Persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the third district of Cebu have received an early Christmas gift from the Capitol today, November 7.
This comes after the Cebu Provincial Government launches the “Abag Sugbo” program (literally means, “Help Cebu”) that would benefit Cebuano PWDs and their kin.
“Dili igo nga tagaan natog wheelchair, pagkahuman niana picturan lang, humana,” Gov. Gwen said during the Caravan of Services in Toledo City today.
“Tanan nga mga PWDs paningkamotan nato nga mahatagan tamo og paglaum nga mapa-arang arang ang kinabuhi nga inyo karon naangkon,” she added.
Under the program, PWDs can avail of the P500 consultation package from 16 Capitol-run hospitals (4 provincial hospitals and 12 district hospitals).
They are also eligible for free hospital admission, lab tests, and medication, among others.
Moreover, PWDs and their able-bodied kin will also be prioritized in the Capitol’s various amelioration programs, such as Sugbo Negosyo for micro-entrepreneurs, and Sugbo Kahanas for tech-voc skills upgrading trainings.
During the event, Governor Gwen was joined by Congressman PJ Garcia, Board Members Tata Corominas-Toribio and Doc Stanley Caminero, as well as mayors of the third district, led by Toledo City Mayor Marjorie Perales. | Babie Jane Revecoy
