The Province of Cebu revealed the Top 10 finalists of the Sugbo Negosyo Season 2 during a program at the Capitol on Thursday, October 19.
Gov. Gwen Garcia said each of the Top 10 is already assured of additional business capital worth “at least P100,000.”
“For the Top 10, dili usa na nato i-announce kay it will now depend on kinsay ma-Top 3. But certainly there will be an additional nga . . . at least, of the Top 10, at least additional capital of 100,000. At least,” Gov. Gwen said in her speech.
Gov. Garcia lauded all the finalists for their enthusiasm in handling their chosen businesses.
"The passion to succeed mao na atong gipangita dili kay for compliance lang," Gov. Garcia said.
The governor said the mystery shoppers were the ones who picked them.
Aside from the additional capital, Gov. Garcia also said an additional legislative fund worth P1 million will be given to the legislative offices including the vice governor’s office whose beneficiaries made it to the top 10.
The top 10 finalists were under the offices of Vice Governor Hilario Davide III, 1st District Board Member Yolanda Daan, 3rd District Board Member John Ismael Borgonka, 4th District Board Member Kerrie Shimura, and ex-officio PB member Celestino Martinez.
The Top 10 finalists will also undergo a month-long mentorship and coaching program with the MCCI, where they are expected to enhance, present, and defend their business models. When the mentorship ends, TWG will select the Top 3 finalists and award them.
Meanwhile, the Sugbo Negosyo Season 2 beneficiaries who made it to the top 35 did not go home empty-handed, as they received P20,000 worth of financial assistance loaded into a QR-coded card.
Sugbo Negosyo is a 100-million peso micro-enterprise development program spearheaded by Governor Garca that was undertaken to help struggling micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) amid the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Vice Governor Hilario Davide III, provincial board members, MCCI President Kelie Ko, Sugbo Negosyo TWG, and Department of Trade and Industry-Cebu Director Mary Rose Quiñanola joined the governor during the event. | Babie Jane Revecoy
