Talisay City, home of Cebu’s tastiest lechon (arguably) took center stage as it celebrates the Halad Inasal Festival in honor of their patroness, Sta. Teresa de Avila.
Talisay City Mayor Samsam Gullas and first district Congresswoman Rhea Gullas welcomed Governor Gwen Garcia at the Talisay City Central Elementary School grounds where the festival showdown of five clustered barangay contingents was held.
Governor Gwen, delighted by their graceful performances, said that the Cebu Provincial Government will allocate P200,000 as a subsidy for each of the five contingents. In addition, Talisay City will also receive a P2 million subsidy for socio-cultural activities.
Halad Inasal Festival, literally mean a festival of lechon offering, is the city’s annual festival and religious fiesta held every 15th of October. It highlights lechon (roasted pig), for which the city is famous for on the feast day of Sta. Teresa of Avila.
