Sen. Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito pledged additional funds for the provincial government’s construction of a government center in Balamban, Midwest Cebu.
This was the good news the senator relayed to Gov. Gwen Garcia during his visit at the Governor’s Office on Friday, October 6.
“Tulungan namin yan nila Migz,” Senator JV told Gov. Gwen, referring to Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri.
Senator JV will be the fourth senator to help fund the project, following Senator Sonny Angara, who pledged P100 million; Senator Francis Tolentino, who also set aside another P80 million; and Senator Bong Go.
The government center in Balamban will be an exact replica of the iconic Capitol Building on Escario Street in Cebu City. It has been allocated P200 million in the General Appropriations Act this year, which the DPWH is utilizing for site preparations and foundational works.
Initially, Capitol has set aside P500 million for the project as Gov. Gwen is determined to transfer the seat of the provincial government from Cebu City to Balamban, a rising LGU nearing cityhood status in Midwest Cebu.
