The Central Office of the National Food Authority has announced that it now allows its regional headquarters located in a Capitol-owned property in Cebu City to be relocated in favor of the provincial government.
This was revealed by Atty. Shyla Joy Ramos of the NFA Central Office Legal Affairs Division during their meeting with Gov. Gwen Garcia on Thursday, October 5. The meeting was also attended by NFA 7 regional director Maria Fe Evasco.
Based on the initial agreement, NFA 7 headquarters, including its warehouse, would be relocated to what will soon become a prime government center in Sudlon, Lahug — a property also owned by Capitol.
NFA 7 currently stands along Gov. M Cuenco Ave., a busy thoroughfare that is now highly commercialized due to its proximity to the bustling Cebu IT Park.
Another option would be to relocate NFA 7 to another Capitol-owned lot in M. Velez, Cebu City.
Capitol is likely to spend for the replication of the agency’s regional office at its new location.
Gov. Gwen urged the agency to sign an agreement with Capitol on Oct. 11, when the latter is also set to sign the same agreements with other affected government agencies that are up for relocation.
