In recognition of their selfless support to the undertakings of the Provincial Government of Cebu to ensure that health services are within the reach of Cebuanos, doctors, volunteer health professionals – and a judge and other members of the legal profession, were treated to a banquet at the iconic Capitol Social Hall aptly called “Salamat Doc!”.
These medical professionals, including hospital and non-hospital based partners and volunteers have supported the Capitol throughout the year through its various programs and projects.
Governor Gwen Garcia, in her speech, commended the efforts of the doctors and volunteers in serving the Cebuanos and changing their lives through free yet fully dedicated service.
Dr. Jaime Bernadas, regional director of the Department of Health, Dr. Gerardo Aquino Jr., chief of the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center, Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, Capitol Health Consultant, Dr. Potenciano “Yong” Larrazabal III, president of the Cebu Doctors Group of Hospitals, Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Geraldine Faith Econg, and other medical and legal groups and associations received Plaques of Appreciation from the Governor as well as the Resolutions of Commendation from the Provincial Board.
Justice Econg is the founder of Mabuhay Deseret Foundation that has been instrumental in bringing smile and hope to hundreds of Cebuano children who have cleft lift and cleft palate.
The event, known as "Gabii sa Pasalamat", also closes the month-long celebration of the 454th Founding Anniversary of Cebu Province. | Babie Jane Revecoy
