The Cebuano constituency will be getting more infrastructure projects from the Provincial Government through their board members, mayors, vice mayors and barangay captains after Governor Gwen Garcia allocated millions of funds to them during the Liga ng mga Barangay general assembly on Thursday, August 17, 2023.
The governor, who spoke before almost a thousand barangay captains who attended their first general assembly since the Covid-19 pandemic, announced that she will allocate P3M to each of the provincial board members; P2M each for mayors; P1 million each to the vice mayors; and P200K each for the barangay captains who attended the event at at the IEC3 Convention Centre.
The financial assistance is a gesture of appreciation from the Capitol to the officials who continue to support her administration, especially the barangay captains, to whom the people first run to for help.
But the governor requires that these funds should only be used for infrastructure projects in their locality that would last and can be enjoyed by future generations. This is consistent to her policy set when she came back to office in 2019 that the funds should not be used to buy kitchen utensils, monoblock chairs, office supplies, tents, or sporting goods such as trophies.
"Infrastructure projects na ha, kay para duna gyuy makita," Garcia said. | PIO
