Lola Eugenia Detuya just turned 100 years old last month, and she let the younger generation hear the kind of classic music that dominated her era.
During the Caravan of Services in Ronda on Friday, August 4, Lola Eugenia sang “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” in her deeply sentimental voice, and the song that was first heard in 1910 must have brought back a lot of memories for the incredibly lucid centenarian.
“Alang kang kinsa man na nimo gipahinungod ang kanta? Kinsa may imong sweetheart?” Gov. Gwen Garcia asked her in a playful banter.
Without answering the question directly, Lola Eugenia revealed that she was blessed with 9 children and countless grandchildren and great grandchildren.
During the Caravan, she received a check worth P100,000 from Gov. Gwen as the Capitol’s appreciation for all her hard work and contributions to society after all these years.
Born on July 8, 1923, Lola Eugenia told 𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐛𝐨 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 that she really has no specific secret to her long life because she was a drunkard when she was young, but she believes that her faith in God made her live longer.
