Another day, another problem solved by Gov. Gwen Garcia.
This time, the issue involved a stalled Capitol-funded road concreting project in Brgy. Siocon in Bogo City because private lot owners would not approve of the project hitting a piece of their properties.
Over half a kilometer, or 639 meters, of this Siocon Road section has remained unpaved because of this.
During a meeting at the Capitol on August 4, Gov. Gwen Garcia appealed for cooperation, especially since the road — a Provincial Road — had existed even before the acquisition of the surrounding properties.
Fortunately, the owners heard the governor’s appeal and signaled to cooperate so that this 2.77-km P9.56 million project to finally finish.
The governor added that the value of private lots in the area will definitely increase once the road is concreted as it will provide improved and more convenient mobility for residents and tourists alike.
The Siocon Road in Bogo City, based on data from the Provincial Engineering Office, is to be maintained by the Province of Cebu.
As per Executive Order No. 180 establishing the Classification of Roads by President Elpidio Quirino on September 1, 1948, and Executive Order No. 113 by President Ramon Magsaysay on January 1, 1955, provincial roads shall have a right of way of not less than 15 meters.
