In anticipation of the influx of patients at the Capitol-run Minglanilla District Hospital (MDH), Gov. Gwen Garcia is urging lot owners to help the province improve the facility’s narrow access road by allowing for widening works there.
Capitol consultant Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, in a meeting with the governor on Thursday, Aug. 3, said this was just the beginning of the improvements to be done at the MDH as Capitol is dead set in upgrading the infirmary facility into a DOH-accredited Level II hospital with a trauma care facility.
The wider access road will also have a dedicated roofed pedestrian lane. The lot owners, represented by Mr. Jun Selma, showed willingness to cooperate with the Capitol’s improvement plans for MDH.
Dr. Loreche said the Capitol, in partnership with the private sector, is also looking into establishing a medical school at MDH that would have nursing, pharmacy, radiologic technician, and other medical program offerings.
“By having a school with an attached hospital, ang atong pool of man power, dili ta maglisod, and considering there are 16 hospitals of the province,” Dr. Loreche told Sugbo News.| Mary Ann Malaya
