Comprehensive and done admirably well.
This was how Gov. Gwen Garcia described the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Monday, July 24, 2023 as well as the performance of the nation’s Chief Executive in his first full year in office.
“The President gave a very comprehensive report on the gains of the PBBM administration in just one year. And considering that he started with an economy ravaged by the pandemic restrictions, I must say he has done admirably well,” Gov. Gwen said in a statement sent to the local media.
Gov. Gwen also noted of the President’s efforts in creating positive bilateral relationships with other nations and attracting investments to the country in his travels abroad with his Cabinet members.
In an earlier interview with reporters, the governor already gave Pres. Marcos a “good score” for his significant accomplishments in his first full year at the Malacañang.
Gov. Gwen further assured the President of Cebu’s full support in all his plans for the country moving forward.
“One Cebu Island continues and will always stand behind and in full support to President Bong-
bong Marcos,” she said.
Interestingly, Gov. Gwen also admired the Marcos’ giving emphasis on the new tourism slogan “Love the Philippines” in the latter part of his speech.
“Most of all, I really appreciated the ending. This is a President who, by word and by
deed, is leading our country and all of us Filipinos to genuinely and truly LOVE THE PHILIPPINES,” the governor said.
The country’s new tourism campaign, “Love the Philippines," was launched last month under the leadership of her daughter, Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco, which was later on adopted by the province with its own “Love Cebu” version. | Carlo Lorenciana
