Kadiwa ng Pangulo pop-up stores will now be part of the Cebu Provincial Government's quarterly Caravan of Government Services which will resume later this month for its third quarter leg this year.
Representatives of the Department of Agriculture, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Labor and Employment, National Food Authority, and the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas manifested this commitment to Gov. Gwen Garcia during a meeting on Thursday.
The governor was more than elated by the development. And more good news for the farmers and other sellers: DOLE-7 for their part, will pay the farmers and processed goods sellers at the Caravan a salary under DOLE’s Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.
The salary will be for a three-day’s worth of labor for a single day of Caravan display.
Here is the list of other services which will be offered by the agencies during the Caravan:
1) DA 7 regional executive director Angel Enriquez said they will organize the farmers who will sell their fresh products at the at the Caravan. Having no middlemen as the produce will be straight from their farms, the public is assured that not only are the products fresh but also cheap and affordable.
2) DTI Cebu director Rose Mae Quiñanola said they organize micro and small entrepreneurs who would sell their DTI-approved processed goods at the Caravan.
3) NFA 7 director Maria Fe Evasco said they will sell rice at P25 per kilo. But with the expected influx of buyers, they will sell only 2 kilos of rice per family.
4) OPAV will take charge of the overall coordination among agencies participating, to ensure that the Kadiwa ng Pangulo pop-up stores will be organized and smooth-sailing.
The Capitol’s Caravan of Services has seen a growing number of national government agencies as well as private sectors and independent associations that are joining forces to bring their respective services closer to the Cebuanos. | Babie Jane Revecoy
