CARCAR CITY -- Gov. Gwen Garcia, together with City Mayor Patrick Barcenas and Provincial Board Member Red Duterte, inspected the Carcar City Sports Complex — venue of the upcoming Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2023 this Aug. 27.
Gov. Gwen assessed the preparations being done for the province’s biggest festival showdown that is expected to draw more than 8,000 people, according to BM Duterte, the Provincial Board’s tourism committee chief.
The main grandstand at the venue can accommodate a total of 7,000 people. BM Duterte told 𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐛𝐨𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬 that they are planning to add bleachers that would accommodate over a thousand people more.
A dedicated platform for the judges and VIPs will also be put up.
BM Duterte also reported that they will pattern the system for Pasigarbo after that of Liloan’s Rosquillos Festival and Toledo City’s Hinulawan Festival, where the judges’ platforms are on eye level to the performing stage, giving them a closer and better look at the performers.
He also said the street dancing route will probably be at the diversion road and not along the Natalio Bacalso Ave. national highway to prevent traffic congestion during the event.
Overall, BM Duterte is optimistic that preparations are achieved as planned, and urges the public, including those outside of Cebu, to support the Pasigarbo event through online viewing.
The governor was also joined by provincial tourism officer Marti Ybañez, DILG Cebu Director Ian Kenneth Lucero, and CPPO Director PCol Rommel Ochave. | Carlo Lorenciana
