The Province of Cebu will provide P2 million in subsidy for each of the mainland Cebu towns and cities and P2.5 million for each of all island municipalities that will be joining the upcoming Pasigarbo sa Sugbo 2023 in August.
Gov. Gwen Garcia made this announcement on Thursday, July 13 as she met all the town and city officials, and their tourism officers, and also choreographers.
There are 50 LGUs that have confirmed their participation, including Mandaue City, five component cities, and 44 municipalities.
While there are 43 mainland Cebu LGUs, there are seven island municipalities located in Bantayan and Camotes, namely: Santa Fe, Bantayan, Madridejos, San Francisco, Poro, Tudela, and Pilar.
This means the Capitol will be allocating P103.5 million in subsidy for the grandest festival showcase that is seen to boost tourism and spur the local economy as the funds will only be spent in Cebu. | Mary Ann Malaya
