The Province of Cebu will build and operate a new port in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island soon.
This after the Cebu Ports Authority (CPA) approved the request of the Capitol to build a new one.
Gov. Gwen Garcia announced the good news during a meeting with municipal officials and tourism stakeholders at the Session Hall of Santa Fe on Tuesday, June 27.
To recall, earlier meetings found that the existing port, which happens to be also the gateway to Bantayan Island, is hindering the free flow of the water causing erosion and uneven distribution of the sand in the beaches of Santa Fe.
The new port that will be built will allow for the free flow of the water underneath.
The CPA has allowed the Province of Cebu to operate the new port once its construction is completed.
Gov. Gwen said the Capitol has set aside P500 million for the project. | IPA
