Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia has asked Vice Gov. Hilario Davide III and the 17 Provincial Board Members to review the performance of their respective Sugbo Negosyo beneficiaries under their offices.
This after she found out that only 18 of the 35 selected district winners of the program are actually qualified for the provincial round of the contest. Some of the adjudged winners were disqualified for rule violations while others backed out altogether.
Capitol allocated P100 million for the second round of the Sugbo Negosyo. The fund, coursed through the offices of the vice governor and the board members, is aimed at helping small entrepreneurs in the province to take their businesses to the next level.
The program is in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry and the Mandaue Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Each of Cebu’s seven districts had nominated at least five winners, bringing the total winners to 35.
After the review, members of the Provincial Board will report to Gov. Gwen on June 19.
The Top 35 winners will be announced on June 26 before they will converge at the SM Seaside for the Sugbo Negosyo Fair. | Carlo Lorenciana
