“A gift of a smile is a gift of life.”
This was how Gov. Gwen Garcia described the significance of the 5-day cleft lip and cleft palate surgical mission for children at the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Danao City which will run from May 31 to June 4.
The governor personally checked on the children-beneficiaries totalling 60, from different cities and municipalities of the province, their age ranging from as young as five months old to 14 years old.
The mission, is a collaboration of various non-profit organizations led by Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, JCI Mandaue, Craniofacial Foundation of the Philippines, MandaWe Smile, Smile Train, International Pharmaceutical Inc. (IPI), and Intellicare. Gov Gwen thanked the group for conducting the surgical mission in Danao.
Mary Clair Satuita, mother of 9-year-old patient-beneficiary Annaliza, said she is grateful for the surgical mission because it shall have given her child a most sweet smile.
“Sa naghimo aning operation, daghan kaayong salamat ninyo, ma’am, sir, sa inyong pagsuporta sa akong anak,” the resident of Calidngan, Carcar City said.
“Nalipay mi, nalipay pod akong anak nga mawagtang na ang iyang problema.”
Associate Justice Geraldine Faith Econg of Mabuhay Deseret Foundation, Board Members Red Duterte, Mike Villamor and Stanley Caminero, and CFFP CEO Yolanda Abad joined the governor at CPH Danao. | Babie Jane Revecoy
