Aside from holding the Caravan of Provincial Government Services in Alegria, southern Cebu, Gov. Gwen Garcia also inaugurated several facilities worth P6.4 million in the municipality on May 31.
Mayor Gilberto Magallon and members of the municipal council headed by Vice Mayor Verna Magallon, received the governor as she led the inauguration of the municipal plaza which underwent renovation works worth P3.4 million after it was damaged by super typhoon Odette in 2021.
The officials — with seventh district Board Members Jerome Librando and Cesar Baricuatro — also unveiled a person with disabilities (PWD) classroom at the Alegria Central Elementary School, which will be dedicated to young learners with special needs.
The town’s Senior Citizens’ Building, dedicated to the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs, and a connected covered PWD walkway, were also unveiled in the same event. Each of these last three facilities cost P1 million.
The inaugural rites were witnessed by DepEd Cebu Province Superintendent Dr. Senen Paulin, public school teachers, students as well as senior citizens who warmly welcomed the governor in her visit.
