A walking stick may not be a big deal to some. But it means the world to Maria Lourdes Indig, a visually impaired individual from Dalaguete, southern Cebu.
Forty-one years old Indig was one of the beneficiaries during the Caravan of Provincial Government Services at the municipal gym of Dalaguete on May 30.
The Dalaguete native, who was accompanied by her mother, could not hold her tears as she thanked Gov. Gwen Garcia who personally handed her the assistive device.
She said she was accustomed to navigating her way inside and outside the house by memorizing the nooks and crannies of her surroundings.
She could not contain her joy that she finally met the governor after hearing her countless times only through the radio. “Lipay gyud kaayo ko nga niari ko,” Indig told Sugbo News.
She also received a family food pack from DSWD 7, seedlings, a sack of rice, vitamins and slippers from DILG. | URW
