Governor Gwen Garcia tasked officials of PrimeCare Cebu to replace their existing medical equipment at Capitol-run hospitals with new ones.
The governor’s directive came after some chiefs of hospitals and the team of medical evaluators, led by Capitol consultant Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, raised the issue of quality control in lab equipment during a meeting at the Capitol on May 26.
Prime Care, the laboratory services provider of Capitol-run hospitals, assured the governor that they have been working on fixing the concerns already.
They said the delay in their routine maintenance upgrade is caused by pandemic-related restrictions, especially that their equipment supplier is also based in China.
“Governor Gwen wants to level up all services nga ihatag nato sa atong katawhan, so any concern, whether small or minor, has to be addressed accordingly,” Dr. Loreche told Sugbo News.
To recall, Prime Care signed a 5-year contract with the Capitol to provide laboratory services for all of Capitol’s four provincial and 12 district hospitals across the province.
Medical chiefs of Capitol-run hospitals in the cities of Bogo and Danao; the Municipality of Balamban, as well as those in the islands of Camotes and Bantayan are among those that raised their concerns during the meeting.
Provincial Board Member Doc Stanley Caminero, the PB chair of the committee on public health, also attended the meeting, with Provincial Health Office chief Dr. Rannie Gravador and provincial veterinarian Dr. Mary Rose Vingcoy. | Babie Jane Revecoy
