The Economic Enterprise Council (EEC) has approved the request of Cebu Gospel Church (CGC) to exempt them from paying encroachment charges to the Provincial Government for being a non-profit organization.
CGC, a Filipino-Chinese Church, is one of the affected establishments along Osmeña Blvd. that was asked by Capitol for encroaching on road-side lots it owns at this prime stretch.
CGC's letter request was one of the agenda during the Friday meeting of the council, chaired by Gov. Gwen Garcia.
The approval signifies the Capitol and the governor's support to the church community in Cebu.
The church, however, would have to demolish the parts of their facility that have encroached on Capitol lots.
Capitol has demanded charges from business establishments along Osmeña Blvd., beginning from the Capitol up to Fuente Circle, from the start they started encroaching on these lots.
Aside from these structure owners, the same charges are being asked from DPWH, telco companies, and VECO. | Carlo Lorenciana
