Governor Gwen Garcia has stepped in and urged Brgy. Luz officials, led by Brgy. Captain Renato Labrador, to issue necessary barangay permits and clearances for Ayer’s Lechon owner Rico Palcuto.
Gov. Gwen in a meeting with Palcuto and Brgy. Luz officials on Friday, May 12, reminded the latter on their sworn duty to uphold the law and warned them that if they do not comply, she will be forced to barricade the lot and file a case against them at the Office of the Ombudsman.
Last February 14, the Capitol signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Paculto, leasing nearly 2,000 square meters of the said lot. The Capitol is set to collect the monthly rental of P50,000 starting this August.
Palcuto, however, could not proceed with construction works because the barangay would not give him clearances and permits almost three months since he signed the agreement.
It is believed that one of the barangay councilor has a personal interest in the area as the lot is currently being utilized as an arena for fighting cocks.
Aside from generating jobs for residents of the barangay, the lot will also be utilized as an emergency corridor where ambulances and fire trucks could pass during emergencies. | Ulrika R. Wagas
