The Provincial Government entered into separate agreements with five institutions on Thursday, October 12, for the transfer of their offices from one Capitol-owned lot to another.
Gov. Gwen Garcia signed the agreements with the Cebu Medical Society, Population Commission, Girls Scout of the Philippines Cebu Chapter, and National Food Authority Region 7 — who agreed to be relocated from their offices along Gov. M. Cuenco Ave. in Banilad, Cebu City to either Sudlon, Lahug and the DA Compound along M. Velez Street.
The Integrated Bar of the Philippines Cebu City and Province Chapters also agreed to transfer their headquarters from inside the Capitol Compound along Escario Street into the DA Compound along M. Velez where the Office of the Ombudsman Visayas, Prosecutor’s Office, Public Attorney’s Office are also located.
The agreement would allow the Capitol to maximize the to-be-abandoned lots’ full potential, especially since the Cebu City Government has delineated, through the Cebu City Land Use Program (CLUP), the Banilad Properties as Commercial 2 areas due to its proximity to the Cebu IT Park.
The Provincial Government will soon develop these properties into income-generating ventures which would mean additional revenues that would help fund the various programs and services of the Capitol.
Cebu Medical Society President Dr. Peter Mancao; PopCom Executive Director and Usec. Lisa Grace Bersales; GSP Cebu Council President Fe Villegas; NFA Administrator Rod Bioco; and IBP Cebu City Chapter President Atty. Rosendo Emilio Hernaez III and Cebu Province Chapter President Atty. Michael Francis Hubahib signed the agreements representing their respective institutions.
Vice Gov. Hilario Davide III and members of the Provincial Board also signed as witnesses to the agreement. | IPA with reports from CL
