To improve connectivity between their individual properties in Cebu City, the Capitol and Ayala Land are now looking into the opening of roads that would connect their properties: one in Barangay Luz and another in Brgy. Apas.
During a meeting with Ayala Land Vice President Dindo Fernando on July 17, Gov. Garcia raised the need to open a road that could be used on emergency occasions by Barangay Luz residents living around Pag-IBIG headquarters at the Cebu Business Park, an Ayala Land development.
The governor, however, said the road should be installed a gate that is to remain closed unless there is an emergency. The identified area is Lot 10 Block 12 located along Archbishop Reyes Ave. and is part of the Capitol-owned lots in the city.
The governor also proposed the opening of another road, this time in Ayala Land’s development site at the Cebu IT Park in Brgy. Apas. The road will connect Cebu IT Park to the Capitol-owned and newly recovered Armed Forces of the Philippines Visayas Command (VisCom) lots in Camp Lapulapu.
In October last year, then Department of National Defense Secretary Jose Faustino Jr. turned over to the Capitol the Transfer Certificate of Titles of 17.5 hectares out of the 80 hectares of province-owned lots occupied by VisCom.
Just this February, Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. himself witnessed the agreement signed by Gov. Garcia and then DND Sec. Carlito Galvez Jr. for the return of 19 additional lots occupied by VisCom.
The governor said the access road will ease traffic in the area and help facilitate connectivity especially when the Capitol would start developing VisCom lots into income-generating economic enterprises for the province.
While Fernando will have to relay the matter to Ayala Land executives, it is understood that both camps will sign an agreement next month to this effect. | Mary Ann Malaya
