SANTA FE, CEBU — The remotest parts of this town is Kinatarcan Island, approximately one hour and 30 minutes away by boat from main land Bantayan.
Yet despite its distance, Kinatarcan is not far from the heart of Gov. Gwen Garcia.
The governor, accompanied by Board Member Kerrie Shimura (Cebu, 4th District) and Santa Fe Mayor Ithamar Espinosa, inaugurated Capitol projects worth at least P36 million distributed in the 3 barangays of the island.
A large chunk of this, pegged at P33.9 million, is spent for the first phase of Kinatarcan Circumferential Road section which was newly completed.
The road section measures 3.6 km in length, 5 meters wide, and cement thickness of 8 inches. Construction of the second phase of the project, which measures 3.7 km, is now under way.
Once completed, the circumferential road will connect the barangays of Bitoon, Langub, and Hagdan in Kinatarcan which is fast becoming a tourist favorite because of its white sand beaches, caves, and lakes awaiting to be discovered.
The governor also opened to the public a barangay road concreting project in Hagdan which Capitol allocated P1.9 million for.
The governor also turned over to the public 28 solar-powered concrete lamppost pedestals to each of Barangays Bitoon and Langub as part of the Capitol’s province-wide street lighting project.
“Sa daghang katuigan, malimtan gyud ang isla. Unya mobisita lang panahon sa kampanya. Pero pagkahuman sa eleksyon, di na pod igkita hantod sa sunod kampanya,” Gov. Garcia said in Brgy. Langub.
“Dugay nana, niangkon nalang sa maong kamatuoran ang mga nagpuyo sa isla. Apan lahi kang Gwen Garcia,” she said, adding that she has fulfilled her campaign promise last year to come back to the island bringing Capitol aid and services. | 𝑰𝑷𝑨
