Governor Gwen Garcia resumed talks with Department of National Defense Assistant Secretary Emmanuel Anthony Ramos and officials of the AFP-Visayas Command on the Camp Lapu-Lapu masterplan and relocation on Wednesday, May 17.
To recall, last October 2022, DND and the AFP turned over to Capitol 16 out of the 47 parcels of lots occupied by the AFP-Viscom, a prime piece of property located in Brgy. Apas, Cebu City that the Cebu Provincial Government is trying to recover. Capitol has also offered to fund the construction of the headquarters where VisCom will relocate to.
Joining Governor Garcia during the meeting were Capitol officials and representatives from ASYA Design.
After her meeting with DND and Viscom officials, Gov. Gwen met with the officers of Alliance of Barangay Apas Community Associations Inc. (ABACA) and Barangay Apas officials, led by Barangay Captain Virgil Cabigon, to further discuss about Capitol's plan to develop a socialized housing on two parcels of province-owned lots located within the vicinity of the camp.
She asked the National Housing Authority (NHA) and Capitol’s real estate division to conduct a joint survey in the area, including the facilities around it, and to get a full verification of occupants in these lots.
The survey results will be used to determine how to divide the area allocations among its present occupants.
Capitol also offered the occupants an option to transfer to another Capitol-owned lot in Barangay Busay. | Babie Jane Revecoy
