The Cebu Provincial Government is excited to host the closing ceremony of this year’s Palarong Pambansa to be held on July 16 at Cebu City Sports Center.
Gov. Gwen Garcia told the Cebu City’s Palarong Pambansa technical working group, led by Acting Mayor Raymond Garcia and Cebu City Sports Commission chairman John Pages, that the Province will also donate P8 million to the city to help defray the cost of hosting the weeklong nationwide sports competition.
“Nalipay kaayo ta. Nagpakita gyod diay nga ang Cebu is really One Cebu Island, magtinabangay ta. So nalipay kaayo ko nga si Governor, nisugot siya nga sila maoy mo-handle sa finale sa atong Palaro. Nindot kaayo, show of unity,” Acting Mayor Garcia told 𝐒𝐮𝐠𝐛𝐨 𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬.
Gov. Garcia assured the officials present that the Province will pull out all stops to present a closing ceremony that Cebuanos can be very proud of, utilizing state of the art technology and technical wizardry that will be introduced to the country for the first time.
The event will be handled by Ahwel Paz, a former creative director at ABS-CBN.
To complete the feels, a lineup of celebrity performers and hosts are also being finalized to grace the event, which is expected to be attended by Vice President Inday Sara Duterte.
The Palarong Pambansa, slated from July 9 to 16, is the largest youth sporting event in the Philippines, with student athletes in the basic education from all over the country competing in various sports categories.
Led by DepEd, the event aims to promote sportsmanship, camaraderie, and healthy competition among Filipino youth.
With the support of Cebu Province, the closing day of Palarong Pambansa is sure to be a fitting end to a week of intense competition and camaraderie.
