Putting health as the number one in the Six-Key Development Agenda of Cebu Gov. Hilario P. Davide III and Vice Gov. Agnes A. Magpale has finally paid off.
The Cebu Provincial Government will receive an award from the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) “for being the second highest number of enrollment with no arrears and on time payment from calendar year 2016-2018 under the Sponsored Program.”
PhilHealth Vice President Member Management Group Dr. Francisco Soria Jr. sent a letter of invitation addressed to the governor to attend the Stakeholder Recognition at Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria in Quezon City on March 18.
The Stakeholder Recognition is part of the major highlight of the Health Care Financing Summit organized by PhilHealth.
A plaque of recognition will be given to the Cebu Province.
“We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support in the implementation of the National Health Insurance Program (NHIP),” a part of the letter read.
Dr. Rene Catan, chief of the Provincial Health Office, will receive the award on behalf of the Cebu Provincial Government.
Catan said the Capitol will receive such award from PhilHealth for the first time.
“Just by the mere fact nga na-recognize ta sa PhilHealth is a plus for the governor nga iya gyung priority ang health,” he said.
“Nganung makahatag man tag libre sa atong mga constituents because maayo ta’g performance sa PhilHealth. Ang PhilHealth nitabang sa pagpasabot sa atoa nga kinahanglan maayo ta’g bayad aron makakolekta ta’g maayo nila. Nya over the last two years maayo man ta’g bayad,” said Catan.
Catan shared that even before the Universal Health Care (UHC) Law was passed, the Cebu Provincial Government already offered free billing to its constituents.
In relation to health, Catan will serve as one of the guest speakers for the Corporate and Suppliers Exhibition organized by the Supply Institute of Asia to talk about how the Cebu Province has changed and improved its health system.
The event will be held in Manila Marriott Hotel on March 14.
“The essential meat of the story is how the Province of Cebu changed our status from ingon ana sauna, in so short of time gibutang ta diri, and why are we now chosen as one of the pilot provinces to roll out the UHC Law so naa silay nakit-an nga change sa provincial health system,” he said.
Catan added he will also share the impact of UHC Law to the individuals and to the private sector during the event.
