The Cebu Provincial Board (PB) unanimously approved the Province’s P4.692-billion annual budget during their regular session on Monday, Dec. 17.
The PB passed the budget ordinance on its third and final reading without any amendment to or revisions of the items.
The budget ordinance was initially submitted for discussion on Dec. 10 where it was approved on first and second reading.
The annual budget includes development fund and disaster risk reduction and management fund, operation of hospitals, and for the Cebu South Bus Terminal.
Of the P4.692-billion budget, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) got the biggest chunk with P1.48 billion, which will be used for the improvement of the district and provincial hospitals and for public health programs.
The annual budget also included appropriations for the fourth tranche of salary increase, productivity enhancement incentive, and mid-year and year-end bonuses.
The 2019 budget is higher by at least four percent compared to this year’s budget, which is P4.5 billion.
In 2015, the annual budget reached P3 billion. The budget increased in 2016 with P3.4 billion. In 2017, the annual budget was P3.6 billion.
Provincial Budget Office chief Danny Rodas, in an earlier interview, said that most of the funds for the annual budget will be taken from the Province’s internal revenue allotment, which has been increasing every year because of its consistent economic growth.
