The Philippine Association of Local Government Accountants (PHALGA) held its 12th Visayas Geographical Conference (VGC) with more than 5000 participants at the International Eucharistic Congress (IEC) Pavillon, Cebu City, last September 20-22, 2017 .
According to PHALGA President Mary Jane H. Lluisma, the three-day conference aimed to gather all LGU accountants from all over the Philippines to learn from and be updated with the various services handled by different agencies of the government.
“In the three-day conference, there are eight technical sessions and each session will be handled by competent speakers,” said Lluisma.
In his opening speech, Gov. Hilario P. Davide III, represented by Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office head Baltazar S. Tribunalo Jr., hoped the conference would provide each of the participants the opportunity to learn, share ideas and experiences to strengthen their unity as local government accountants.
“You are at the forefront in upholding integrity, transparency, and accountability in our offices and your role will always be vital in achieving our goal of equitable progress,” he said.
Tribunalo was also one of the speakers in the conference discussing good practices in local governance in institutionalizing disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation and mitigation.
