FUJIAN PROVINCE, CHINA — While Governor Pam Baricuatro had to cut her official trip short to be able to return to Cebu due to the approaching typhoon, the Cebu Provincial Government delegation pressed forward with high-level engagements in Fujian on February 5 and 6, advancing discussions centered on economic growth, trade expansion, and cultural exchange.

Carrying the governor’s mandate were Provincial Board Members Stanley Caminero, Lakambini Reluya, Mike Villamor, and Malcolm Sanchez, and Capitol Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan and Global strategist Dr. Brian To, who continued positioning Cebu as a prime destination for global partnerships and future-ready investments.
A key highlight of the visit was the Promotion Conference of the China-Philippines Economic and Trade Innovation and Development Demonstration Park in Zhangzhou City. During the conference, the delegation outlined priority areas where Cebu seeks strategic collaboration, particularly in waste-to-energy solutions, agricultural modernization, and medical innovation — sectors seen as essential to sustaining the province’s growth while safeguarding the welfare of its people.

The dialogue reinforced Cebu’s growing reputation as an investment-ready province, anchored on the Baricuatro administration’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and business-friendly governance.
Earlier that day, delegates toured the headquarters of Ranli Food Group, where they witnessed advanced pastry production systems supplying markets across Southeast Asia. The visit offered valuable insights into scalable food manufacturing — an area Cebu aims to strengthen as it enhances food security while opening more opportunities for local enterprises.

The delegation likewise visited the Longjiang Cultural Ecological Park and the Zhangzhou Urban Exhibition Hall and Ancient City, gaining a deeper appreciation of how the region harmonizes rapid urban development with cultural preservation — a model that resonates with Cebu’s vision of progress rooted in heritage.
Later in the evening, Cebu officials attended a banquet hosted by the principal leaders of the Zhangzhou Municipal Government, providing an important platform to deepen diplomatic relations in a more informal setting. The dinner fostered meaningful exchanges that further strengthened mutual trust and reaffirmed both sides’ openness to expanding economic and cultural cooperation.
On February 6, engagements continued in Quanzhou City with a luncheon hosted by municipal leaders, underscoring the shared commitment to sustained collaboration between Fujian and Cebu.
The delegation also visited KELME Sporting Goods Co., Ltd., an internationally recognized brand known for sponsoring sports gear for national teams worldwide. Officials were briefed on the company’s global operations, innovation strategies, and sports development initiatives — insights that could support Cebu’s own push to expand youth and athletic programs.
Governor Baricuatro earlier emphasized the importance of ensuring that Cebu remains globally connected while staying responsive to the needs of its constituents.
The continued momentum of the delegation’s activities highlights Cebu’s proactive approach to international cooperation — demonstrating that even amid emerging challenges, the province remains firmly focused on innovation-driven economic expansion, cultural understanding, and long-term prosperity. | CAPITOL PIO
