The Cebu Provincial Government has released a total of P28.4 million in financial assistance to local government units (LGUs) and 125 barangays across Cebu’s seven districts.
The financial aid is one of Gov. Pamela Baricuatro’s initiatives to support the priority projects of LGUs and barangays, aimed at ensuring inclusive growth and development.

Gov. Baricuatro, however, reminded the recipients that the assistance does not come from politicians’ personal pockets, but from public funds meant to serve the people.
“This is the people’s money, intended to address the people’s needs,” the governor said.

Tabuelan Mayor Rex Gerona received P10 million in checks from the Capitol for the purchase of medical equipment and medicines for the municipal-run rural health unit, as well as for the construction of an eco-sports oval.

Meanwhile, Moalboal Mayor Inocentes Cabaron received P5 million in financial assistance for the municipality’s participation in the Sinulog Festival 2026 last month.
During the morning distribution, barangay officials from four districts received financial assistance consisting of P200,000 for infrastructure projects and an additional P50,000 for socio-cultural activities per barangay.
The third district beneficiaries came from Toledo City and the Municipalities of Barili, Aloguinsan, Pinamungajan, Balamban, Asturias, and Tuburan.

Barangays from the fourth district represented Bogo City and the Municipalities of Tabuelan, San Remigio, Daanbantayan, Medellin, Tabogon, Bantayan, and Madridejos.
The fifth district beneficiaries were from Danao City and the Municipalities of Catmon, San Francisco, Tudela, and Poro, while the seventh district barangays came from Alcantara, Alegria, Badian, Moalboal, Ginatilan, Ronda, and Dumanjug.
In the afternoon, barangays from three more districts received their financial assistance. These included first district barangays from the cities of Naga and Carcar, as well as the Municipalities of Sibonga, San Fernando, and Minglanilla.
Second district barangays came from Alcoy, Oslob, Samboan, Santander, Argao, Boljoon, and Dalaguete, while the sixth district beneficiaries were from the municipality of Consolacion.
The assistance was the Capitol’s response to formal requests submitted by the barangays, which complied with the required documentation, including barangay resolutions and certifications from the Commission on Audit attesting that they had no pending unliquidated funds.
The fund release underscores Governor Baricuatro’s commitment to inclusive governance—extending assistance to communities regardless of political affiliation—anchored on her pledge to place public welfare above all else. | CAPITOL PIO
