Major General Michael G. Samson, Commander of the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry Division, paid a courtesy call on Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro on Thursday, January 22. He was accompanied by Colonel Joel Benedict Batara, Commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines–Joint Task Group Cebu (AFP-JTG Cebu).

The 3rd Infantry Division has jurisdiction over Western Visayas, the Negros Island Region, and Central Visayas, including Panay, Guimaras, Negros, Cebu, and Bohol.
During the visit, Gen. Samson assured the governor of the Army’s support for Cebu’s hosting of the ASEAN Summit meetings scheduled from January 26 to 30.

The event is expected to draw more than a thousand delegates, including around 500 senior ASEAN officials such as tourism ministers and representatives of national tourism organizations, as well as travel exhibitors, international buyers, and members of the media.
