Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro underscored the provincial government’s initiatives, in partnership with various stakeholders, to strengthen the agriculture sector and ensure that food remains accessible, locally produced, and secure for every Cebuano family.

In her message during the Municipal Agri-Fishery Investment Forum organized by the Department of Agriculture-Central Visayas (DA-7), Gov. Baricuatro described the gathering as a “powerful venue” to align local innovations with national strategies and to ensure that no municipality is left behind in agricultural development.
The three-day forum is being held from Jan. 20 to 22, 2026, at the IEC Convention Center in Cebu City.

“On behalf of the provincial government, I warmly welcome you to our island — a province that lives by both the sea and the land, and deeply understands the value of agriculture and fisheries in sustaining our people and our economy. This forum comes at a very crucial time, not only for our farmers and fisherfolk, but for the entire country. Food security, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods are no longer just policy concepts; they are daily realities for our communities,” said Gov. Baricuatro.
The governor said that beyond policies and development plans, agriculture is about people — the farmers, fisherfolk and rural communities who work tirelessly to put food on Filipino tables.
She urged local government units (LGUs) to openly share their challenges, learn from one another, strengthen partnerships with the DA, and co-create solutions that are inclusive, practical and sustainable.
“Cebu stands ready to collaborate and contribute to this collective effort toward a more food-secure Philippines,” said Gov. Baricuatro.
The forum drew around 1,000 participants, including representatives from LGUs, farmers’ and fishers’ groups, agri-preneurs and private sector partners from across the country. It aims to explore investment opportunities in agriculture and fisheries, identify priority commodities, strengthen value chains, and promote public-private partnerships to boost productivity, market access and sustainable livelihoods. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝑭𝑬
