𝐁𝐀𝐍𝐓𝐀𝐘𝐀𝐍, 𝐂𝐞𝐛𝐮 — The Cebu Provincial Agriculture Office (PAG) launched the Food Always In The Home (FAITH) Program in Bantayan Island on Jan. 21, distributing agri-fishery inputs to farmers and fisherfolk from the municipalities of Bantayan, Madridejos and Santa Fe.

The distribution was held at the Bantigue Gymnasium and forms part of the provincial government’s food security initiative under Gov. Pamela Baricuatro, aimed at ensuring food is readily available in households and helping alleviate hunger across the province.
Beneficiaries received poultry, seeds, fertilizers, fishing gear and other agricultural inputs intended to boost local food production and strengthen livelihoods in the island municipalities.

Fourth District Rep. Sun Shimura attended the activity, along with Fourth District Board Members Kerrie Shimura and Atty. Nelson Mondigo. Bantayan Mayor Alex Layese was also present and personally received the certificate of allocation for the municipality. Gov. Baricuatro was represented by her chief of staff, James Canoy.
A total of 356 heads of cockerels and 712 pullets were distributed, along with 258 sets of assorted vegetable seeds and 100 bags of open-pollinated variety white corn seeds. Farmers also received foliar fertilizers, including five boxes for vegetables weighing a total of 60 kilograms and one 12-kilogram box for cacao.

For the fisheries sector, beneficiaries received four sets of materials for marine protected areas, 60 sets of multiple hook-and-line fishing gear and 12 sets of fish aggregating devices.
The program also provided 1,000 assorted fruit tree seedlings to support long-term food production.
Aside from the FAITH Program, the Provincial Agriculture Office also brought other agricultural initiatives to Bantayan Island, underscoring the Capitol’s continued support for farmers and fisherfolk in the province. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝒀𝑱𝑩
