A health team from the Cebu Provincial Government, led by Dr. Miguel Tristan Rebalde, inspected the Cebu Provincial Hospital in Danao City (CPH-Danao) as part of the Capitol’s ongoing initiative to improve hospital environments through beautification and enhanced wayfinding.

The visit marks the next phase of the province’s Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of San Carlos (USC) Fine Arts and Interior Design Departments. Under the partnership, USC teams will lead the repainting and redesign of hospital reception areas, introducing more welcoming design elements, clearer signage, and accessible information displays.

The initiative aims to create functional, patient-friendly spaces that reflect care not only in service delivery but also in the hospital environment. A phased rollout is planned throughout the year, alongside upcoming infrastructure upgrades, to cover all Capitol-run hospitals in the province.

Governor Pamela Baricuatro signed the MOU with USC in September last year to strengthen healthcare services in Cebu. The agreement covers two components: a visual health literacy campaign and the hospital beautification and wayfinding enhancement project.

The Visual Health Literacy Campaign will develop posters, infographics, and other visual materials to raise awareness on priority health concerns such as stroke, HIV, cancer, and vaccine-preventable diseases, as identified by the PHO, to promote preventive care through accessible messaging.

The Capitol will fund materials and logistics, while USC faculty and student volunteers will provide design expertise and manpower.

“Creating functional, patient-friendly spaces that reflect care not just in service, but in environment,” wrote Capitol Piso Public Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan on her Facebook page.

“This is just the start, with a targeted rollout planned throughout the year, alongside upcoming infrastructure improvements, to bring these changes to all Capitol-run hospitals across the province,” she added. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶
