As part of Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro’s push to significantly improve healthcare services across the province, pharmacists and supply officers from 16 Capitol-run hospitals convened in a coordination meeting aimed at strengthening the province’s supply and procurement systems for medicines and medical supplies.

The meeting was led by the Capitol’s Piso Public Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan, who gathered frontline supply managers to align priorities for the coming year, identify gaps in current procurement and inventory practices, and lay the groundwork for simpler and more efficient systems.

Participants discussed persistent challenges in managing medicines and hospital supplies, while jointly developing approaches to improve availability, accountability, and responsiveness in hospital operations.

The initiative seeks to ensure that the Capitol’s four Provincial Hospitals and 12 District Hospitals remain consistently prepared to deliver quality care, with reliable access to essential medicines and medical supplies.

Dr. Catalan thanked the pharmacists and supply officers for their dedication and collaboration, stressing that the success of supply chain reforms hinges on strong teamwork and sustained communication among all stakeholders, including pharmacists, supply officers, and hospital administrators; and that meaningful improvements can only be achieved through coordinated action across all levels.

The effort forms part of the broader healthcare reform agenda under Governor Baricuatro’s administration, which prioritizes timely, adequate, and high-quality medical supplies in all Capitol-run hospitals. The governor believes that strengthening procurement and supply systems is critical to improving patient outcomes and restoring public confidence in the Capitol’s health facilities. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶
