Cebu Province and San Juan City have expressed their mutual intent to forge a sisterhood partnership aimed at advancing collaborative and mutually beneficial initiatives to strengthen local development in both local government units.

Governor Pamela Baricuatro welcomed San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora during the latter’s visit to the Cebu Provincial Capitol on Friday, January 16, where discussions centered on areas of cooperation and shared governance goals.

The meeting was also attended by several Cebu mayors, including Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Cindi Chan, Mandaue City Mayor Jonkie Ouano, Talisay City Mayor Samsam Gullas, City of Naga Mayor Val Chiong, Consolacion Mayor Nene Alegado, and Liloan Mayor Aljew Frasco.

Under the proposed sisterhood agreement, Cebu Province and San Juan City plan to collaborate in key sectors such as tourism; trade, commerce, and industry; science and technology; culture and the arts; urban planning and development; education; sports development; environmental protection; public health; and social services.

Mayor Zamora, who also serves as national president of the League of Cities of the Philippines, likewise extended the same invitation to forge sisterhood agreements with the cities of Cebu, Talisay, and Naga, even as he signed sisterhood agreements with Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Chan and Mandaue City Mayor Ouano.

San Juan City, a highly urbanized locality in Metro Manila, is recognized for its mix of historic and modern urban life, vibrant culture, local cuisine, and festivals.

Through the partnership, San Juan City and the Cebu LGUs aim to strengthen institutional ties and establish effective communication channels to facilitate exchanges in information and technology, policy development, socio-cultural programs, income-generating initiatives, fiscal management, healthcare, public education, and tourism promotion, among other areas intended to support shared growth and long-term development. /π‘ͺ𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑢𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑢, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔 π’ƒπ’š 𝒀𝑱𝑩, 𝑨𝑹𝑱
