The Cebu Provincial Government is exploring potential collaborations with Chong Hua Hospital as part of its ongoing efforts to upgrade medical services across the province.

Gov. Pamela Baricuatro and Capitol Public Health Consultant, Dr. Nikki Catalan, met today, Jan. 14, with the top management of Chong Hua Hospital (CHH). The delegation, led by the hospital’s president and CEO Dr. Helen Po, engaged in discussions described by Dr. Catalan as a “fruitful and meaningful engagement.”

According to Dr. Catalan, the discussion went beyond exploratory talks and focused on concrete actions and next steps.
These include potential joint projects with Benevola de Cebu Foundation, Inc., enhanced knowledge exchange, and collaborative approaches to human resource development and capacity building in the health sector.

Dr. Catalan, who is assisting her mother, Cebu Gov. Baricuatro, in strengthening the province’s healthcare system, said the engagement reflects a shared commitment to improving health services for Cebuanos through strategic partnerships with the private sector.
The provincial government welcomed the openness of Chong Hua Hospital’s leadership to collaborate, noting that such partnerships can help address gaps in expertise, training, and service delivery, particularly in public healthcare facilities.
“The Cebu Province is grateful for this shared commitment and looks forward to translating these partnerships into meaningful improvements in health services for Cebuanos,” Dr. Catalan said.
The initiative forms part of the Baricuatro administration’s broader push to enhance access to quality healthcare by leveraging cooperation between government, hospitals, and foundations, with the goal of delivering more responsive and sustainable medical services across the province. | CAPITOL PIO
