Residents of Barangay Binaliw in Cebu City affected by the recent landfill incident received immediate food and water assistance as the Cebu Provincial Government continued its relief operations despite persistent rains on Sunday, January 11.

A total of 2,000 hot meals and bottled drinking water were distributed to affected residents of Barangay Binaliw, which remains reeling from the devastating effects of the landfill incident that has already claimed lives.

Despite the adverse weather conditions, Capitol relief teams pushed through with the operation to ensure that residents had access to essential food and potable water while coping with the impact of the tragedy.

Although Cebu Province does not have direct jurisdiction over the highly urbanized Cebu City, the provincial government undertook the relief operation in line with the disaster response initiatives of Governor Pamela Baricuatro. The move underscores the province’s commitment to providing timely, direct, and compassionate assistance to Cebuano communities in need. Many workers of the landslide-hit landfill in Binaliw are also from the province, particularly from the town of Consolacion.

As relief efforts continue, the provincial government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that no Cebuano is left behind, especially during times of crisis. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶
