In time for the Feast of the Señor Santo Niño, Museo Sugbo has organized a devotional exhibit honoring the Holy Child and the deep-rooted faith of Cebuanos.

Governor Pamela Baricuatro led the ceremonial opening Saturday, Jan. 10, with Museo Sugbo head curator Francis Pesons and officers and members of The Heritage of Faith Museum.
Titled “Sa Daang Tao Palangga (By Our Forebears Loved): Devotions to the Sto. Niño in Cebu,” the exhibit highlights the diverse devotional traditions and practices of various towns and cities across the province in celebrating the feast.

In her message, Baricuatro said the exhibit captures a faith “quietly and faithfully lived by generations of Cebuanos—kept in homes, cared for in chapels and churches, and carried in the hearts of every Cebuano.”
“Our devotion to the Santo Niño has always been more than tradition. It is a source of strength in difficult times, a reminder to remain humble in moments of success, and a guide that calls us to love, serve and care for one another,” said Governor Baricuatro.

“As governor of this beautiful province, I hold this deeply. Especially after the challenges we have faced, our faith continues to steady us and remind us of what truly matters—unity, kindness and service rooted in love for one another,” she added.
Margarita Garcia-Sarmiento, chairperson of The Heritage of Faith Museum, said Sinulog is more than a festival, describing it as the living memory of Cebuanos—their spirit, faith, resilience and joy expressed through movement, color and sound.
The exhibit space was blessed by Rev. Fr. Brian Brigoli, chairperson of the Cebu Archdiocesan Commission for the Cultural Heritage of the Church.
Pesons said the exhibit opens to the public on Tuesday, Jan. 13, and runs through Feb. 13. It will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday.
Featured are devotional expressions from 11 municipalities and two cities: Borbon, Carmen, Liloan and Mandaue City in northern Cebu; and Ronda, Alegria, Ginatilan, Samboan, Oslob, Boljoon, Argao and Talisay City in southern Cebu, all of which hold their own celebrations of the Santo Niño feast.
Pesons said the devotional show is the first of several exhibits Museo Sugbo plans to mount in the coming months. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶
