The Cebu Provincial Government has allocated ₱10 million to support the successful staging of this year’s Sinulog Festival, widely regarded as the country’s grandest festival celebration.
Gov. Pamela Baricuatro made the commitment to Sinulog Foundation Inc. (SFI) President Pericles Dakay and Executive Director Elmer “Jojo” Labella during a meeting held at the Provincial Capitol on January 6.
Speaking during a media briefing on January 7, Gov. Baricuatro announced that the Provincial Capitol and Cebu City Government will hold a joint barrio fiesta at the Capitol’s Heritage Park as part of the celebration on fiesta day, January 18.
Gov. Baricuatro explained that the Provincial Capitol was jointly chosen by her and Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival as the venue for the barrio fiesta due to limited space at Cebu City Hall, which is located near the Basilica Minore del Sto.
