The Cebu Provincial Hospital–Carcar (CPH-Carcar) has started preparations for its target Level II accreditation by the Department of Health, following an Executive Committee Meeting led by Dr. Prudencio Manubag, Chief of Hospital, together with hospital personnel.

During the meeting, updates on hospital policies, human resource complement, and plans for 2026 were discussed, with particular focus on strengthening the hospital’s capacity as part of its transition toward Level II classification.

Preparations include improvements in hospital services, the organization and strengthening of manpower, and the readiness of required facilities and systems to better respond to patient needs.

The meeting also highlighted the continuing efforts of Governor Pamela Baricuatro to further strengthen the healthcare system of the Province.

Additional support was also conveyed by Piso Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan, including initiatives on manpower development, policy support, and long-term hospital upgrading.

Among the personnel who have returned to CPH-Carcar are Dr. Daisy Abarquez, who will serve as Chief of Clinics; and Cheryl Sabala, who has been appointed as the hospital’s new Administrative Officer.

Their return is expected to contribute to a more organized and efficient hospital administration.

Currently, CPH-Carcar is a DOH Level I hospital that caters to the medical needs of patients in southern Cebu. A Level I hospital provides basic services such as isolation facilities, maternity care, basic X-ray services, and secondary laboratory tests, focusing on initial treatment and stabilization.

A Level II hospital builds upon these services by offering broader in-patient and out-patient care, including support for various medical and surgical specialties. It provides more advanced and specialized services, such as departmentalized units, Intensive Care Units (ICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU), respiratory therapy services, and enhanced diagnostic imaging and laboratory facilities, staffed by organized departments and board-certified specialists.

Under Governor Baricuatro, the Provincial Government is intensifying its efforts to upgrade the level of medical care available to Cebuanos — providing stronger, more accessible, and higher-quality healthcare services for the people. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶
