Cebuano athletes who earned medals in the 33rd Southeast Asian Games paid a courtesy call on Governor Pamela S. Baricuatro at the Cebu Provincial Capitol on Monday, January 5, 2026.

In recognition of their achievements and bringing pride to Cebu, Governor Pamela Baricuatro rewarded each athlete with a P10,000 cash incentive, reaffirming the Cebu Provincial Government’s commitment to sports development and to nurturing world-class Cebuano talents. The athletes present during the courtesy visit and received the incentives from the Capitol are Jay Bryan Baricuatro, who won a silver medal in boxing; Andrew Kim Remolino, who won two gold medals and one silver in triathlon; Raven Faith Alcoseba, who captured two golds and a silver in triathlon and aquathlon; Matthew Justine Hermosa, who earned two gold medals in relay events; Mark Ashley Fajardo, who won a bronze in boxing; and Franklin Ferdie Yee, who earned a silver in duathlon.

On August 29, 2025, Governor Baricuatro issued Executive Order No. 45, which reconstitutes the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission, defining its composition, functions and mandate, and for other purposes. The Province recognizes that participation in sports not only prepares and develops individuals to represent the province in regional, national, and international competitions, but also plays a vital role in shaping character, fostering discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and leadership among the youth and the broader community.
