Philippine Coast Guard Central Visayas (PCG-7) Commander Rear Admiral Agapito Bibat informed Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro of the agency’s plan to strengthen its presence across Cebu Province by stationing personnel in every coastal local government unit.

“Our intention for the Province of Cebu is to activate additional Coast Guard substations sa tanan natong coastal municipalities, including island barangays like Carnaza and Kinatarcan, to ensure timely response during calamities,” Bibat told the governor during his visit on December 17.

Governor Baricuatro welcomed the initiative and thanked Bibat for the agency’s service amid the series of calamities that have affected the province in recent months.

“There is a reason why you are placed there, admiral,” the governor said.

Bibat explained that Cebu Province is currently divided into four Coast Guard stations: Camotes Islands; Northern Cebu, which has jurisdiction over Carnaza in Daanbantayan and Kinatarcan in Santa Fe; Central Cebu; and Southern Cebu.

Northern Cebu presently has 14 substations in coastal municipalities, with additional substations planned for Sogod, Borbon, Carnaza, and Kinatarcan, bringing the total to 18. The Central Cebu Station, which covers Danao City to Carcar City, operates 15 substations, while Camotes has four.

Southern Cebu, starting from Sibonga, has 11 substations, with plans to activate more in Alcoy, Ginatilan, Samboan, Barili, Alcantara, and Ronda. /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶, 𝑷𝒉𝒐𝒕𝒐𝒔 𝒃𝒚 𝑭𝑬
