Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro welcomed Australian Ambassador to the Philippines, His Excellency Marc Innes-Brown, to the Provincial Capitol during a courtesy visit on Wednesday, December 3.

The governor and the ambassador exchanged pleasantries and discussed potential areas of cooperation, particularly in economic development and investment opportunities between Cebu and Australia.
Gov. Baricuatro highlighted Cebu’s openness to deepening engagement with Australian businesses, emphasizing that Cebuanos are among the most highly trained professionals and skilled workers in the country, with strong performance in information technology, business process outsourcing, engineering, and other key sectors.

She also raised the possibility of establishing more direct flights from Cebu to major Australian cities, noting that enhanced air connectivity would significantly strengthen economic, tourism, and people-to-people ties. She emphasized that Cebu continues to be a thriving and peaceful community, making it an ideal hub for international partnerships despite ongoing political turbulence in Manila.
Ambassador Innes-Brown, who previously served as Australia’s First Assistant Secretary for the Middle East and Africa Division, has held several significant overseas postings, including as Australia’s Ambassador to Turkey, Iran, and Iraq, and diplomatic assignments in Thailand and the United States. | CAPITOL PIO
