An international and local medical team, recently active after the 6.9-magnitude earthquake, has once again been mobilized to provide critical mental and medical support to communities affected by #TyphoonTino.

Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro and Piso Health Program Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan welcomed the delegation from the Association of Medical Doctors of Asia (AMDA) and the Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA) Cebu Chapter during a visit to the Capitol on November 25.

The team will conduct psychological debriefing sessions and other mental health interventions for residents grappling with the disaster’s emotional impact, alongside a medical mission providing free medicines and a relief drive.

Priority areas include Barangay Bacayan in Cebu City; Barangay Cabadiangan in Liloan; and the municipalities of Balamban and Asturias—locations severely affected by Tino’s deadly floods, which displaced families and caused casualties.

The mission will also feature community engagement activities for children from affected families, led by partners including Pocari Sweat, Philtower MIDC, Eagles Club, and Shine Pastry, offering book-reading and cookie-decorating sessions to provide comfort and creative expression.

Governor Baricuatro expressed gratitude to the mission partners, highlighting their role in exemplifying the spirit of Bayanihan during challenging times.

“Professional and civil society organizations like yourselves are really the lifeline of Cebu right now,” the governor said. “Without you, it will really be hard for us.” /𝑪𝑨𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑶𝑳 𝑷𝑰𝑶
