Gov. Pamela Baricuatro visited Carcar City today, Nov.25,  to assess flood damage from Tropical Depression Verbena and deliver initial assistance.

The governor was joined by Mayor Patrick Barcenas to survey affected areas, including the Sitio Luanluan spillway in Poblacion 1.

Under the governor’s directive, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) immediately provided assistance, distributing 1,000 hot meals, 1,000 bottled water, and 1,000 family food packs.

As a preventive health measure, the governor also distributed boxes of prophylactic antibiotics to key locations, including the Carcar City Health Office (150 boxes for several barangays), the Super Health Center (30 boxes), and Carcar City Hall (30 boxes for emergency responders and employees).

Following reports from Mayor Barcenas of minor structural damage and preemptive evacuations, Gov. Baricuatro said the provincial government will look into the root causes of the flooding  and come up with long-term solutions.

She also visited the Carcar City Provincial Hospital, which was affected by the flood, to check on its immediate needs and provide additional prophylaxis. /CAPITOL PIO
