𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: Four Capitol-run hospitals were recognized by the Department of Health (DOH) Central Visayas Center for Health Development as among the top LGU hospitals with an institutionalized Disaster Risk Reduction and Management in Health (DRRM-H) System in the region. These hospitals are Cebu Provincial Hospital (CPH)-Danao City, Cebu Provincial Hospital-Bogo City, Juan B. Dosado Memorial Hospital in the municipality of Sogod, and Barili District Hospital.
The recognition was made during the 2025 Public Health Summit and UHC Summit, with the theme, “Universal Health Care in Action: Embraced, Experienced, and Strengthened through Good Practices in Health” held at Summit Galleria Cebu, Cebu City on Friday, November 21, 2025. The plaques and certificates of recognition were received by the respective chiefs of hospital.
The public health summit, which gathered local chief executives and health officials in various local government units (LGUs), was organized to recognize the importance of innovation and collaboration in strengthening the region’s health system.
Anchored on Section 19.5, Rule V of RA 11223 or the Universal Health Care (UHC) Act Implementation Rules and Regulations (IRR), the summit underscored the DOH mandate to promote the exchange of good practices and guide LGUs in implementing strategies that advance Universal Health Care.
Spearheaded by the DOH Health Systems Development Section (HSDS), the event recognizes LGUs whose initiatives and commitment have contributed significantly to the region’s health goals and to building a stronger and more equitable health system for Central Visayas.
