The Cebu Provincial Government is partnering with Shopee Philippines to help more than a hundred Cebuano micro and small entrepreneurs (MSEs) establish and strengthen their presence in the digital marketplace through a workshop to be hosted by the e-commerce platform.
The initiative was discussed during a meeting between Governor Pamela Baricuatro and Shopee Philippines representative Atty. Choi Petrache at the Capitol on September 29. Also present were Paolo Uy of the Provincial Investments and Promotion Board and Atty. Kevin Dinsay, legal counsel of the Office of the Governor.

Petrache said the workshop is tentatively scheduled for January 2026, with participants to be selected by the Provincial Government in coordination with the Department of Trade and Industry.
“We’re going to show them how to maximize e-commerce and the digital market for selling products and services. Everything is digitized now, and markets are no exception,” Petrache said.
The training, part of Shopee’s Tatak Pinoy Program, will provide practical insights on logistics, financial management, and a live demonstration on how to register with Shopee and manage an e-seller’s dashboard.

Governor Baricuatro, a strong advocate for promoting Cebuano products such as Argao’s hablon, welcomed the partnership and assured Shopee of the Capitol’s full support.
She also proposed the creation of a dedicated Shopee page showcasing Cebuano products—a one-stop shop for local goods on the platform.
Petrache confirmed that Shopee is considering the idea, with plans to feature MSEs under a dedicated Tatak Pinoy page. | CAPITOL PIO
